Getting anywhere by train in Brittany can be time-consuming, but you do get to see a lot of one of France's most beautiful, unspoiled regions. The traditional markets held in fishing ports and historic towns like Boulogne, Dinard, Le Guilvinec, Lorient, Questembert and Saint-Renau alone are worth day trips. The Brest Airport shuttle, Bibus line 40, takes just 10 minutes to connect to Brest tram and train stations.
Here are a few train journeys from Brest that you might like to try:
Route 1: Brest to Dinard
Services from Brest to Dinard take passengers directly to the Tourist Office of Dinard, where the Autobus stops right outside. Depending on the train chosen, the journey can take anything from 3 hours 50 minutes to over 4 hours. Services are provided via a combination of TGV and TER trains and Autobus. One to two changes are required, usually only at Rennes, but sometimes a second stop is added at St-Malo.
The first service leaves Brest at 07.18 hours, arriving in Dinard at 11.08 hours. Changes at Rennes at 9.25 hours and St-Malo at 10.32 hours.
After that, services leave at 09.05, 11.30, 12.08, 13.18, 14.19 and 16.22 hours. They arrive at 14.00, 15.55, 16.30, 18.00, 18.40 and 20.35 hours. For the 16.22 hours train from Brest one change is required at Rennes at 18.29, when passengers have to board an Autocar for Dinard.

Route 2: Brest to Lorient
TGV and TER trains and Autocar services operate on the Brest to Lorient route. One change is usually required at Quimper. The usual travel time is 2 hours and 11 minutes.
The first service leaves at 07.41 hours, arriving at Lorient at 09.52 hours. Passengers change at Quimper at 09.00 hours.

Route 3: Brest to Nantes
Services on the Brest to Nantes line require passengers to change at Rennes and at Le Mans on some journeys. A typcial train journey from Brest to Nantes takes at least 3 hours and 25 minutes.
The early service leaves Brest railway station at 07.18 hours, arriving in Nantes at 11.55 after two changes, one at Rennes at 9.25 hours and the other at Le Mans at 10.26 hours.

Route 4: Brest to Paris-Montparnasse Train Station
The fastest journey time on this route is 3 hours and 25 minutes, more typcial journeys are 3 hours and 59 minutes. Depending on which train is selected, changes can be required at Landerneau, Morlaix, Plouret-Trégor, Guingamp, St. Brieuc, Lamballe and Rennes, before the journey ends at Paris-Montparnasse railway station. On this route trains often have free space for bicycles, free WiFi access, buffet cars and disabled traveler accessibility.
The first service leaves Brest at 05.18 hours, arriving in Paris at 09.04, a 3 hour and 46 minute trip.

A typical journey from Brest to Quimper takes 1 hour and 17 minutes, and trains are direct. Services are provided via TER trains and Autocar.
